From Breakdown to Breakthrough
I didn't become a health coach because I had it all figured out. I became one because I was desperate for answers, and I found them. Here's my journey.

The Collapse
I was in the best shape of my life, lean and muscular. But behind the scenes, my gut was breaking down. Within just 5 months, I lost 15kg of muscle and gained 10kg of fat. Suddenly I couldn't eat without reacting, my energy crashed, my skin broke out in severe eczema, and my mind felt foggy. I couldn't train, couldn't think, couldn't sleep. Everything I'd built physically fell apart because nobody could tell me what was actually wrong.
The Search
I spent months searching for answers. GPs had no idea. Specialists ran tests but couldn't connect the dots. Then I found someone who could actually read my blood work and see the real picture of what was happening in my body. That's when I started my first gut protocol, and that's when everything changed. I became obsessed with understanding blood work, physiology, and what was really driving my symptoms. I started mentoring under a functional medicine practitioner, learning everything I could about gut health and biomarkers.
The Setbacks
Healing wasn't linear. During my gut protocols, I developed severe eczema so bad I had to wear makeup to work every day for months. I was on antimicrobials, antibiotics, restrictive diets. I was doing everything right, but my body was still struggling. This taught me that protocols need to be adjusted based on individual response, and that sometimes the path to healing is uncomfortable.

The Temporary Breakthrough
After 18 months of intensive protocols, my bacteria were depleted and my gut was still damaged. I made the decision to get a faecal microbiota transplant, essentially a colonoscopy where they implant healthy bacteria from a donor. It sounds unconventional, but it worked. My symptoms disappeared completely. However, six months later, they started coming back. That's when I realized the real issue: I still had severe leaky gut, and no amount of bacteria would fix that without addressing the underlying intestinal barrier damage.

The Change of Course
I owned and ran a personal training gym for 8 years. It was my identity. But I came to realize that chronic stress was one of the key things keeping my gut from healing. So I made the decision to sell the business and reduce my load. But that was only part of the equation. The other piece was finally targeting the leaky gut directly. Once I combined lower stress with a focused protocol to repair my intestinal barrier, everything shifted. My symptoms cleared, my energy came back, and I felt like myself again for the first time in years. That experience taught me something I now apply to every client: healing requires addressing the whole system. Stress, sleep, environment, and the gut barrier itself. It's rarely just one thing, and that's exactly why cookie-cutter protocols rarely work long term.
The lesson? Health isn't about finding the perfect protocol or the newest supplement. It's about understanding your unique physiology, addressing the real drivers of your symptoms, and having someone who actually gets what you're going through. That's why I do this work.
